Excessive perspiration with botulinum protein

Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is an embarrassing aesthetic issue that may become debilitating with its effects as much of psychological as of social nature. Botulinum toxin which is used on wrinkles also helps reduce sweat production by 90% in the areas where is injected (armpits, soles of the feet, palms of the hands).

Treatment

After the areas of hyperhidrosis have been determined, the physician will perform a few superficial injections with a very fine needle. As a result, the sweat production by the sweat glands will be blocked for 4 to 12 months.

Result

The treatment is fast, highly efficient and risk-free. The treatment results are optimal after 3 to 7 day and the effects may last from 4 months to one year. New injections may be performed once the effect of the previous ones diminishes but it is advisable to observe a minimum break of 4 months between two injection sessions.

One session with take 30 minutes and can be performed under topical anesthetic with Emla® Cream.

I always thought excessive perspiration was a fatality... but this treatment changed my life!

For me, summer or winter, it’s all the same. No way I can wear a tight shirt or top, except maybe a back one. Otherwise, no matter what, three showers a day and multiple deodorant applications won’t even do it…large sweat halos under my armpits, I wouldn’t even dare to move after eleven in the morning.

One day, my GP mentioned this treatment for the first time, applied once to twice a year in a specialized clinic, that would take perspiration to a near complete halt.

I made an appointment in Clinique Matignon, the doctor gave my all necessary information while the anaesthetic cream was doing it’s effect. He then did a series of small injections under each armpit. To be honest, although I considered myself sensitive, this hardly hurt. A couple of nippy spots, but the needle is so thin you generally hardly feel a thing. And it only takes three minutes on each side!
Next thing, a true small miracle! Nothing, no perspiration, no sweat halos, no unpleasant smell. Nothing! At all! Too good to be true!

Since then, I go for a session each year in April and am fine until Christmas.
