What is CoolSculpting® ?
CoolSculpting® is a medical cryolipolysis device developed by the Allergan laboratory. Its principle is based on a discovery resulting from research at Harvard and Massachusetts General Hospital: fat cells are more sensitive to cold than other surrounding tissues.
By exposing a targeted area to controlled cooling (between -5°C and -11°C), CoolSculpting® induces the crystallization and natural death of fat cells – a biological process known as apoptosis. These destroyed cells are then gradually eliminated by the body over the following weeks.
CoolSculpting® is FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved for 9 distinct body zones and has been the subject of over 100 clinical studies. To date, over 17 million treatments have been performed worldwide.
How does a session at Matignon work?
At Matignon, each CoolSculpting ® treatment follows a structured protocol:
1. Prior medical consultation
A personalized diagnosis enables us to assess the areas to be treated, rule out any contraindications and define an appropriate treatment plan.
2. Applying the system
An applicator sucks in the targeted fat fold and diffuses controlled cold for 35 to 60 minutes, depending on the area. The patient may feel an initial pinch, then the area naturally becomes numb.
3. Immediate return to everyday life
No social eviction is necessary.
The after-effects are slight:
temporary redness, slight swelling or bruising may occur, but these disappear within a few days.
What areas can be treated with CoolSculpting at Matignon?
CoolSculpting at Matignon targets localized fat deposits on :
