What is lipostructure?
Lipostructure is a two-stage surgical technique involving the removal of fat from a donor area, then reinjection of this purified fat into the areas to be treated.
It most often concerns :
- Cheeks and cheekbones
- Temples
- Dark circles and eye contours
- Nasolabial folds
The aim is not to artificially increase volume. It’s about restoring natural harmony by correcting age-related loss.

1. Consultation with the plastic surgeon
The first step is essential.
Dr Julien Brilmaker analyses:
- Overall facial morphology
- Identified areas of volume loss
- Available donor zones
- Patient expectations
This phase enables us to define the indication, the areas to be treated and the volumes envisaged.
2. Anaesthesia and procedure
Lipostructure is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the treatment.
Average duration : 1h30 to 2h.
The procedure involves two distinct gestures: removal by gentle liposuction from a donor area (abdomen, hips or thighs), followed by fine, stratified reinjection into targeted areas of the face.
3. Recovery after lipostructure
Recovery is gradual.
- Swelling and bruising: frequent in the first few days, fading in 2 to 3 weeks
- Social recovery: usually 2 to 3 weeks
- Stabilized result: visible from 3 months, once the graft is integrated
Some of the fat injected is naturally resorbed by the body. The final result takes this phenomenon into account right from the planning stage.
