How does laser hair removal work?
The principle is the same for all of our technologies: selective photothermolysis.
The laser light is absorbed by melanin, the pigment found in hair. This energy is converted into heat, which destroys the follicle at the root without damaging the surrounding skin.
Two practical consequences:
- The laser targets the contrast between the hair and the skin; therefore, the more the technology is tailored to your skin tone, the more precise it is.
- Hair does not grow continuously, but in cycles. Only hairs in the growth phase respond to treatment, which is why multiple sessions spaced apart are necessary to treat each hair at the right time.
Why use multiple technologies instead of just one?
This is at the heart of our approach. A technology that is effective on fair skin and fine hair may not be the safest option for olive or tanned skin—and vice versa.
The choice of machine depends on four factors, which are evaluated during the consultation:
- Your skin type (from very fair to dark).
- Coat Color and Thickness
- The area to be treated (face, underarms, legs, back, bikini line, etc.)
- Tanning and the Season
Having a variety of technologies at your disposal means being able to adapt to each individual’s needs rather than applying the same solution to everyone.

We use several different types of technology, selected based on skin type and hair texture. Click on each machine below to learn more about its features.
Alma Soprano
Titanium: Its unique feature is that it combines three wavelengths (755, 810, and 1064 nm) emitted simultaneously, allowing it to target hair at different depths in a single pass. Used in “in-motion” mode with continuous cooling, it offers a virtually painless treatment and is suitable for all skin types, including olive and tanned skin. Our benchmark for comfort and versatility.
Venus Velocity
: A high-power 800 nm diode laser with real-time cooling. It ensures fast, comfortable, and safe treatments on all skin types, including tanned skin.
Leaseir:
A high-power diode laser, continuously cooled to around 0 °C. It is one of the fastest technologies on the market: large areas, such as the legs, are treated in just a few minutes, across all skin types (I through VI).
Candela GentleLase Pro:
A 755 nm Alexandrite laser combined with cryogenic cooling. Very fast on large areas, it is particularly effective on fair to medium skin tones and fine to medium hair.
Cynosure Apogee
: A high-power 755 nm Alexandrite platform that delivers the same combination of speed and precision on fair to medium skin tones.
Lutronic Clarity
combines two wavelengths in a single device: 755 nm (Alexandrite) for fair skin and fine hair, and 1064 nm (Nd:YAG), which is minimally absorbed by the melanin in the epidermis, ensuring safe treatment for darker skin tones. This versatility also makes it possible to treat certain vascular lesions.
Venus Versa: This
is not a laser in the strict sense of the term, but rather a filtered and cooled, broad-spectrum intense pulsed light (IPL) device. A multi-purpose platform (hair removal, as well as photorejuvenation and acne treatment), it is well suited for fair to medium skin tones.
The Matignon Approach: The machine chosen for you, not the other way around
✔ A preliminary assessment —skin type, hair color, and hair thickness are analyzed before each session.
✔ The right technology for the right profile —our 7 technologies allow us to tailor the treatment to your skin and hair type, rather than the other way around.
✔ Safety for olive and tanned skin —thanks to the diode and Nd:YAG wavelengths, the treatment remains safe for darker skin tones.
✔ Comfort at every session —all our systems feature skin cooling to minimize discomfort.
✔ Professional guidance —each protocol is defined and monitored by our team.
