TreatmentKTP lasers have revolutionised the aesthetic management of couperosis. The laser that is used produces a very intense green light. The green colour is complementary to the red colour of the erythrocytes (red blood cells). When the green laser light touches the red blood cell, its energy is absorbed. This induces a rapid coagulation in the blood vessel which is known as selective photocoagulation (coagulation by light without damaging other tissues). The elimination of the capillaries follows within a few days.
ResultSome redness may briefly appear (for a few hours) and is sometimes associated with an oedema for 2 days.
DurationIn a single session, the KTP laser induces a significant disappearance of most of the vessels affected by couperosis. For severe cases, a second treatment session is occasionally proposed.

Unbelievable! Thirty minutes of laser and I like ten years younger!
I’ve been embarrassed about this permanently red nose since the age of thirty. A glass of wine, the slightest emotion, and it would get even worse! My wife had been suggesting laser for a while, but I had imagined something complicated, found a little ridiculous to attend a doctor for that. Then I received this voucher for a treatment in Matignon. And decided to go ahead.
When I got to the clinic, I was glad to see I wasn’t the only man choosing to take care of himself. I was given a thorough explanation, but had difficulty believing the doctor in his statement that 90% of the redness would go in one sitting and for years…
Then I was taken to a treatment chair, my eyes protected by lightproof stickers, and the technician directed hot shots onto my nose and cheeks for about ten minutes. Nippy around the nose but clearly bearable. I had taken the following day off and was pleased with that. It looked like a proper sunburn and swollen under the eyes. Although it all disappeared shortly after.
Today, my skin is beautiful, without the redness, and I wonder why I waited that long before dealing with this long lasting issue.
