Intervention objective
Rejuvenate facial and neck features by correcting sagging skin.
The cervico-facial lift is a surgical procedure designed to tighten the skin and muscles of the lower face and neck. It reduces jowls, redefines the oval of the face, smoothes bitterness folds and firms the neck.
It offers a natural, long-lasting result, without freezing expressions.
The result
A rejuvenated face, a reshaped neck, a rested and harmonious appearance.
Hospitalization
The facelift is often performed on an outpatient basis, but an overnight observation period may be proposed in some cases.
Type of anesthesia
General anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with thorough sedation.
Stopping time
A period of 7 to 15 days out of the office is generally necessary, depending on recovery and the extent of the procedure.
Bruising and swelling gradually diminish over the days.
Back to sport
Gentle sport after 3 weeks. Full activity possible after 4 to 6 weeks.
Exposure to sunlight.
Scars should be protected from the sun for at least 3 months. It is essential to use a high-protection sun cream.
Before the operation
A thorough consultation enables us to establish the right indication, evaluate the muscular and cutaneous structures to be treated, and plan the procedure in complete safety.
The intervention
Incisions are generally concealed in the natural folds (in front of and behind the ear). The skin is carefully removed, the underlying muscles are tightened (SMAS technique), and the skin is re-draped without tension for a natural look.
The surgeon applies a light dressing for the first 24 hours, then nothing more.
Scars are fine and discreet once healed.
After the operation
The face may remain swollen or bruised for one to two weeks. Light bandages are worn for 24 hours, then nothing more.
Results begin to emerge after 3 to 4 weeks, with the final appearance visible after about 3 months.
For whom can this treatment make a difference?
Facelifts are designed for men and women with marked sagging of the lower face or neck, who are looking for a long-lasting, natural solution.
They are particularly suitable when aesthetic medicine treatments are no longer sufficient to correct the signs of aging.
At what age is a facelift advisable?
Generally from age 45-50, depending on skin quality, genetics and lifestyle habits.
Theindication depends more on the degree of sagging than on age per se.
Does my health insurance cover the cost of a facelift?
No. This is purely cosmetic surgery, and is not reimbursed by health insurance companies.
At Matignon, cost transparency is part of the process: no nasty surprises, everything is clear from the outset.
Is it painful?
Facelift surgery is not a painful procedure. A feeling of tension or discomfort is common in the first few days, but is well controlled by simple analgesics.
At Matignon, everything is done to ensure optimum comfort and a smooth recovery, with personalized follow-up at every stage.
Place of intervention
The procedure takes place at a partner clinic in Lausanne.
